PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION

As part of the ActNow XR Experience, we are touring a large-scale interactive public art installation. The dynamic sculpture has two modes, REFLECT: where one can see themselves reflected in their surrounding environment, and ILLUMINATE: when the custom designed LED system brings data visualizations on the climate tipping points to life with an ambient soundscape and narration by Indigenous leaders. The art installation is powered off-grid with renewable energy sources. A "digital twin" of the art installation will be accessible in the VR world and through AR sites.

ENVIRONMENTAL ART POWERED BY RENEWABLE ENERGY

Visualizing the Invisible

  • The ActNow XR Art Installation is designed to promote sustainability through the convergence of art, data, science, and clean energy.
  • It features animated data visualizations combined with real-world footage, bringing into focus the stark realities of the Earth's climate tipping points and the importance of biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration.
  • Data sets for ActNow XR visualizations are sourced from highly credible scientific institutions and international agencies approved by our partners.
  • A custom-designed LED and sound system can transform the facade of the ActNow XR Art Installation into a dynamic canvas, bringing data visualizations to life through vibrant, synchronized light patterns and immersive audio that engage and inspire viewers to act for a sustainable future.

Clean Energy Micro-Grid

  • The ActNow XR Art Installation demonstrates the clean energy needed from various renewable sources to power its LED and sound systems—equivalent to the energy demand of a 2,500 sq ft home—highlighting the effort required to generate 10kW for 140kWh using a localized renewable energy system.
  • The solar unit consists of high-efficiency photovoltaic panels that convert sunlight into electricity. Designed to operate optimally in various sunlight conditions, the system maximizes energy generation during daylight hours. Its modular design allows for easy scalability and integration into the micro-grid system, which is then transmitted through a hybrid charge inverter and stored in batteries.
  • The wind unit features compact, small-scale wind turbines that capture wind energy to produce electricity. These turbines are engineered for low-wind-speed environments, ensuring consistent energy output even in moderate conditions. By complementing solar energy, the wind unit provides power during nighttime and overcast days, and adds to the energy storage in batteries.
